You explain that, yes, art and science both reflect nature but that they do so in different ways. Science attempts to understand and quantify the objective characteristics of reality, of nature. Art, on the other hand, tries to capture the subjective experience of reality. And certainly, video games reflect the subjective experience of reality—by, along with other means, giving the player agency to determine how the experience unfolds, by making them a subject.

Pinehurst contemplates this for a moment. After a moment, he says, “Huh. I need to think about that for a while.” He walks back to the door through which he earlier entered the room. “Get back to work, you two,” he says before exiting.

As he leaves, you notice that the video game cartridge is still in his hand.
